Here's a savvy way to pack your hot curling iron or straightener just before heading out the door.
Now this is what we call a hot tip.
If you like having your hair done a certain way no matter where in the world you go, we feel you. And we totally understand the want and need to bring along your favorite hair styling tools, too.
While we love a heatless curler, sometimes, you need to bring in a professional-grade curling iron or straightener to do the trick. But if you happen to be doing your hair right before departure, your hair tool may be too hot to throw in your bag without risk of melting or burning some of your items. But that’s where a handy little oven mitt can save the day.
"I'm going to show you a hack on how to pack a hair straightener into your suitcase," @theorganisedhousewife, aka Kat Springer, shared on TikTok. "If you're like me and you straighten your hair just before you pack and need to go, use an oven mitt — one that you're going to use in the oven — to get all that hot stuff.
Springer goes on to explain that you simply put the straightener (or curler) inside the handle or the mitt itself, then either tuck the cord in the other end or wrap it around the mitt. “Then, it can go directly into your suitcase.”
Similarly, Tiktoker Julie Shroyer also shared the hot tip and dubbed it her “favorite travel hack.”
"I always travel with a curling iron, and it's always too hot to put it in my suitcase after I use it," Shroyer said. As Shroyer suggested, you can just head over to your nearest dollar store and buy a mitt, tuck it inside, wrap your cord around it, and "pack it right away."
"I wish I would have known [this] 30 years ago," Shroyer added.
Luckily for us, because of her advice we don't need to wait another few decades to find it out on our own.
